Celtic Salt & Pepper Mill Set

Celtic Salt & Pepper Mill Set

This set, made from Maple and Cherry, was a gift to someone with way back Irish roots.

My version of a Stick Vase

Jim Lorriman demonstrated his technique for making his stick bowls and vases at one of the guild meetings. I was quite inspired by the items he produced and attempted one myself. It certainly was not as easy as Jim made it look. I was however quite taken with the outcome, particularly the faces that showed up as the turning developed.

African Blackwood Gavel Set

African Blackwood Gavel Set

This was one of my very early turnings from my "way back when" days in South Africa.
My son now has this set.

My Largest Turning

After completing a hardwood flooring project which involved a curved staircase I had a large quantity of offcuts. I decided to use these to produce a segmented vase. At 17in tall and 10in at the maximum diameter this is the largest turning I have done and really tested my trusty old Record No3 lathe.
